Mindful eating is one of those things we yearn to do but often don’t. Instead, we grab a quick lunch on the go, dine in front of the TV, and mindlessly scroll through our phones while shoveling food. Luckily there is an event in Byron Bay in June which will highlight our food as part of the North Coast Festival of Flavour.

On Saturday, June 4, you can kick-start your mindful eating habits at the immersive Senses Dining in the Dark event – a blindfold dining experience with a tasting menu created to invigorate the senses. No, you will not leave with photos for your Instagram story, but you will leave with the memory of an unforgettable culinary experience.

The event will take place at the prestigious Forest Restaurant at Crystalbrook Luxury Resort in Byron Bay and features a menu that maintains the restaurant’s usual ethos of emphasizing sustainable local produce and indigenous flavors. Expect dishes like curried myrtle butter focaccia, pork cheek ravioli with fresh Australian truffles and roast snapper with harissa, quinoa, dried olives and roasted lemon.

The best piece? You can enjoy your four-course meal on the veranda while soaking up the sounds of the rainforest.

Want to take the lead? Tickets for Senses Dining in the Dark are available for reservation for $150. For more information and to book, visit the site.
