French Bulldogs, Cockapoo and Spaniels are among the most popular dog breeds in Basingstoke this year, according to a Basingstoke dog groomer.
Kath Gorick, owner of Abbey Road Grooming in Basingstoke, has spoken of her findings after a nationwide investigation called the Boxer the most popular dog breed in the UK in 2021.

Kath said: “French Bulldogs are very popular. The most popular dogs that come here are a cockapoo or anything with a ‘poo’ in them. I get a lot of Spaniels, Westies and Bichon Frize.
“Dog fashion has changed a lot over the years. I saw a lot of Poodles and Westies when I started. There were a lot more Shih Tzus, but designer breeds are more popular now.”

The boxer topped the national study by experts at MapleCasino casinos, which analyzed the number of searches online for different breeds of dogs recognized by the Kennel Club to show the most popular.

Analysis of the data revealed that the Boxer is the most searched dog breed in Britain, with an average of 3,204,000 searches during the year.

The Japanese dog breed, Shiba Inu, comes second on the list, with 3,036,000 searches in the past 12 months. However, this high number of searches may be due to the fact that the cryptocurrency shares the same name, which was also very popular.
The French Bulldog ranks third on the list of popular dog breeds in the UK, with the small dog breed generating around 2,484,000 searches in 2021.
The Cocker Spaniel comes fourth on the list, which averaged 192,000 searches per month, which equates to 2,304,000 searches during the year.

Golden Retriever is the fifth most popular dog breed in the UK, as the popular hunting dog has been Googled approximately 2,136,000 times during the year.
Favorite of Queen Victoria, the Pomeranian comes in sixth place on the list. In 2021, the German breed generated 2,004,000 searches by the British public.
Seventh on the list is the Chow Chow. The Chinese breed is very popular among the British over the past year, it has been Googled 1,944,000 times.
Shih Tzu and Dachshund jointly occupy eighth place on the list, with 1,476,000 searches, while the Beagle ends the top ten list with 1,368,000 searches.

Data shows that the Boxer is the most popular breed, and this is likely due to the fact that it possesses desirable characteristics such as playfulness, intelligence, and loyalty.
